Cycling Scotland Conference 2024

This year’s national Cycling Scotland Conference was held in Glasgow on Tuesday 8th October 2024.

More than 250 delegates, speakers and exhibitors came together to connect with other experts in everyday cycling, hear from inspiring speakers and be part of breakout sessions including walking tours of Glasgow's new infrastructure.

Since we last held the Cycling Scotland Conference in Glasgow in 2017, the city has undertaken an ambitious programme to support active travel as the first choice for everyday journeys. From the Avenues Programme to the South City Way, Connecting Woodside to the North East Active Travel Routes, new protected cycle lanes and projects across the city are making it easier and safer for more people to cycle in Glasgow.

Aims and agenda

The Conference brings together organisations that support more people in Scotland to cycle for everyday journeys

Each year, around 250 delegates attend the conference including: decision-makers within local authorities and Regional Transport Partnerships, active travel organisations, Scottish Government, private and third sector organisations, campaign groups and many others involved in supporting more people to cycle for everyday journeys.

Our keynote speakers this year were:

  • Deborah Paton, Head of Transport Planning and Delivery at Glasgow City Council 
  • Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Fiona Hyslop MSP
  • Kate Cairns, road safety speaker, trainer and CLOCS Ambassador
  • Adrien Sartre, Political Advisor to the Deputy Mayor of Paris
  • Cross-party panel on the priorities for everyday cycling: Sarah Boyack MSP, Councillor Sanne Dijkstra-Downie, Councillor Angus Millar, Mark Ruskell MSP, Graham Simpson MSP
